Sambeco constitutes as a group that perform twarab music. In the 50s and especially after 1964, when the return of the Comorian community in Zanzibar expelled following the creation of Tanzania (comprising Tanganyika and Zanzibar), taarab becoming very popular. Comorian artists will give it a personal touch by singing and playing in the Comoros with a special technique: Mohamed Hassan uses the gamboussy (oud Comoros) but uses a different range. A native of Zanzibar, Said Yusuf specializes in the directory of Farid al-Atrash. Mohamed Hassan Tsaweni taarab plays to the accompaniment of a gambous.
