I was in East Africa and I was dying to go on a Safari. I almost died when I saw how much the tours cost. A fellow backpacker at my camp informed me of a 3D2N Maasai Mara Safari that cost US$300 that I jumped on immediately!
In the end, I was very pleased with the whole experience. My tour group and I were housed in a comfortable eco-camp about 10 minutes outside of the park for 2 nights with all the meals included. We also had 1 full day game drive along with 1 sunrise drive.
I saw so many animals from antelopes, zebras, giraffes, elephants, lions (so many lions..) to warthogs. I never saw the elusive rhino nor leopard to complete the "Big Five" but seeing 3 (lions, elephants, buffalo) out of the 5 was stellar!
Everyone is in the same park and will see the same animals so the more you pay, the more comfortable your accommodations and food are, but the animals will all be the same!
If you're interested in booking this safari, contact Celestine at Adventure Backpackers Tanzania. Their phone number in Nairobi, Kenya is +254 780 136 545 and there are departures almost everyday. Mention that Nico sent you and, who knows, she might give you a little bit of a discount!
Happy Safari!
